The World Through a Microscope

Life thrives in every corner of the world, but some corners are too small for human eyes. Through a magnificent feat of innovation, man invented a tool that bridges the gap between human vision and superpower. This tool is the microscope, and its ability to magnify the real world over 1000 times has a much more profound effect than the rating implies; it has opened a window to a world of infinite information that has changed the entire way we think about life.

Surprises of The Quantum World

Reality doesn’t have to conform to our expectations. Oftentimes, it doesn’t.

Such is the case with quantum mechanics. Albert Einstein, the famed physicist, derided the theory for years- calling it “incomplete” and labeling its discoveries as “spooky.” A staunch believer in the deterministic nature of physics, he found no solace in the probabilistic nature of quantum mechanics, the realm of the very small, where the normal laws of nature seem not to apply. Einstein went to the grave never truly accepting the reality of the quantum world.

The Dangers of Popular Science

If We Don’t Try, We Won’t Go.

The sheer amount of science programming and science journalism is staggering as well as inspiring. It’s heartwarming to see people actually beginning to care about why things do what they do, or why people want things to do what they do. The Water Canary

While water may be necessary for life to survive, it also has a dark side. Diseases thrive in water, infecting millions in a population without a hint of their source. Analyzing water safety was no simple feat- it required expensive equipment, intelligence, and lots of waiting. Knowing real-time data about what bodies of water are contaminated is the utmost priority in the agenda of returning clean water back to the people. Without this information, entire areas can be infected leading to deaths of thousands. Thankfully, today there is the Water Canary which has made water-testing accessible to everyone. The Water Canary provides a cheaper, simpler alternative to the original ways of testing. The whole process is has been broken down to a green and red light.
